Keyed Stone
2023
site-specific installation with marble and steel

This sculpture appears to be a work in process. Imagine an excessively devoted sculptor chiseling marble off to the side under a tree who just stepped away. The work is made of stone and is about stone. It is art and is about art making. It simultaneously references vast geology and the finite activity of a single artist, evoking both change and finality. Keyed Stone operates in Art Ichol’s context with other finished sculptures that appear unchanging but are equally impermanent.

Permanent installation, Art Ichol, Madhya Pradesh, India.
